Before we make important choices in life, we examine our different options . We wouldn't purchase a car without making sure it was a good buy. We sometimes spend hours contemplating the best coffee/tea/organic food/household cleaner/clothing. Yet, when making the gigantic step of moving our family to another country , we often overlook the steps necessary to ensure the country, city and neighborhood is a “ good fit ” for us and our family! Don't leave home without making sure you are ready for the move and what to do if you aren't happy with your choice. Here are 13 items to consider before you decide on a new location.

Are you considering sending your child to a language immersion program ? It is important to assess your reasons for your decision. Will the school meet your expectations ? Will it provide your child with the kind of language and cultural exposure you are hoping they will receive? Before assuming that a language immersion program will solve all of your child's language needs, make sure you are realistic on the possible results and, most importantly, are providing the needed support at home !
Read what others have to say about their experiences with immersion schools and learn a few tips for finding one that works for you.

But whether it is a depressing reality or not, for those of us who have lived abroad, this is simply the way it is. Read my personal account.
