From Heike (who sat in at the BBFN table at the Bellevue Community College Multicultural Fair on May 6th, 2006):

"It is amazing how many resource you concentrate on this web site. While I was sitting in for you for that little while it was quite interesting to watch people's reaction to your network, realizing that their language and culture is being acknowledged, appreciated and shared with others. I think you are doing an amazing job with providing this network to the community."

From Emily Serna, the founder of Bilingual Families Connect:

I wanted to say that I think your website is great. It sounds like you have created a terrific support system in your area.

My husband and I are raising our 2 young children in English and Spanish. I thought you might be interested in the website I created (potentially as a resource link from your site.)

Bilingual Families Connect -- the site to find tips and advice from other parents like you who are raising bilingual children.

You can view the site at:
http://www.bilingualfamiliesconnect.com/

This began as a project for the web design course I am taking this semester as part of my Masters degree program in Technical Communications. However, parents' response and enthusiasm has been tremendous. I created a survey, and more than 25 families have already contributed their stories and many more plan to do so.

Given the high level of interest, I will continue to maintain and enhance this website going forward.

Best wishes,

-- Emily Serna
P.S. -- Do you know of any sites you recommend that have games and activities for kids in Spanish?

From Ling (whom we immediately added to our BBFN Product Line team!):

Hi Corey,

I got to know your website just last week and fell in love with it. I live in Beijing, China. I'm an native mandarin speaker with English as my major in college, and I studied French as my second foreign language, though it's been years since I actually worked on it. I'm always fascinated with languages and would like to join your product team. Hope I can contribute with my understanding of both Chinese and English. Look forward to hearing from you soon.

By the way, I have a 2 years old daughter who speaks Chinese fluently. Though she often watches English speaking cartoons and listens to English songs, and I do read her stories in English, she shows little interests in it. I'm trying to figure out a way to help her with her English.

Take care, Ling

From a Seattle mother:

"I have to tell you that your emails have really inspired me since I have a very strong feeling about our children being bi-cultural and proud of it. My husband is from the US, so it's not always so easy - especially the language situation. I am dreading the day the kids go off to school because I have heard from so many people that, that is pretty much the end of their [language speaking]."
