We read your emails and letters!

When you contact us, we listen and we respond. We are always eager to know what you think about our group, our newsletter, raising children bilingually and biculturally and finding your way as a multilingual and multicultural family. Please don't stop contacting us!

Below is an email that Carol in Spain sent us...

Carol's Email to BBFN:
Corey, I just had a chance to (finally!) take a look at the newsletter, and let me tell you I thought it was great! I just can't believe how much time you dedicate to this! I wish I could too...

I loved the article about An American between worlds. But, its funny... I see things from a totally different perspective: in my case, once I started dating my husband, 11 years ago now (wow! Has it been that long??!!), and then we got married and had our daughter, I never got the chance to go back home. I live in Spain , and let me tell you that a trip to NY costs a fortune!!

So in my case, I am permanently homesick, 24/7, 365 days a year! I mean, I'm really happy with my life and wouldn't change it for anything in the world, but there is this little "wound" that I carry wherever I go: I feel a little bit like ET, you know, really missing my home, my city, my customs, the way of life,...  It's funny how each of us sees things with a different point of view! You know what they say: grass is always greener on the other side!

Maybe one of these days, when I have a quiet evening all to myself (I wish!) I'll write something about this just in case you'd like to include it in the newsletter. Would that be OK?

About the newsletter: are you thinking of giving it the same sections every month? Maybe you could include a section about an idiom, phrase, metaphor,... in different languages: for example, the expression "Its raining cats and dogs" in English has its equivalent in many languages, I guess, and it would be funny to see the different ways of saying the same thing. This would also be something funny to share with our kids :-)

Thanks for listening/reading!
Carol in Spain

From Corey:
Thank you for your wonderful email, Carol! Yes, please do send us your article about your experiences living so far from your childhood home. We'd be honored to share it with everyone via our newsletter.

As you can see, we did take what you wrote to heart. We didn't get the idioms together but you did inspire us to create our daily Did You Know? section! Thank you for encouraging us to "think outside the box"! :-)

Wishing you well in Spain where I'm sure it is much, much, much warmer than here in freezing Seattle!

Corey
